Safety
Safety audits are conducted across all our locations in order to ensure a thoughtful approach can be taken that increases the safe execution of all tasks. Through our audits and dialogue, we educate ourselves and understand details related to the procedures for these tasks, best practices that can be shared, and where improvements can be made.
Continuous improvement is an imperative for Intrepid. Prior to each task, employees are asked to: assemble the proper PPE, tools, permits, etc., make sure the area is safe for employees and contractors, discuss the task with all stakeholders and understand how the task is related to the overall business.
Several audits are done on a monthly basis. The data from these safety audits is collected to analyze where, what, and why gaps exist to provide meaningful support and leadership that results in improved safe work.
United Way Partnership
Intrepid’s New Mexico operations have been partnering with United Way since 2004. We started a United Way Committee in 2008 and have had members on the United Way Board since this time. In 2018, Intrepid was named Business of the Year by United Way of Eddy County. In 2019, Intrepid was the largest contributor with employee contributions totaling $65,510, exceeding the $65,000 goal and is a whopping 26% increase from 2018 contributions. In addition, we added a corporate donation of $65,510 – matching employee giving – for a total pledged amount of $131,020.
Dead Horse Point State Park Partnership
Intrepid cares about the communities we live and work in. That is why we care about the partnerships with local businesses and institutions. In Moab, Utah, Intrepid has a close relationship with Dead Horse Point State Park. From Dead Horse Point in this state park, you can see the beautiful blues of the Intrepid potash solar evaporation ponds. Since this park has millions of visitors a year, Dead Horse Point has placed information in their visitor center regarding these ponds. To ensure this information is correct, the staff at Dead Horse Point worked closely with Intrepid in the design of their displays and the wording. Dead Horse Point State Park also has a series of bike trails called the Intrepid Trail System. In 2014, Intrepid was a generous financial donor to complete this trail system. Intrepid and Dead Horse Point State Park both value their strong relationship and see the importance in maintaining correctly posted information.
